The Paxton family nurtured their McLaren Vale vineyards for three decades before David Paxton established the Paxton label in 2000. In 2005 they opened their cellar door at Landcross, a historic 1860s sheep and wheat farm.
David Paxton is one of Australia's leading viticulturists. Paxton source from a diverse range of estate owned sites across McLaren Vale. Their Thomas Block Vineyard is home to the EJ Block planted in the late 1800s, making it one of the oldest in the region. In 2011 Paxton became a fully certified biodynamic wine producer. Across different sites they treat their vineyards like an entire organism, with soil health their top priority.
Paxton specializes in Shiraz. Their EJ Shiraz is named after founder David Paxton's mother Elizabeth Jean. Other highlights include Cracker Barrels Shiraz Cabernet, Jones Block Shiraz and Quandong Farm Shiraz.
